Sharping a draw shave

I tried to sharpen my draw shave on my T-7, but the hone wheel was in the way of the handle.  The handle can’t be removed.  Do you have any suggestions, or have I found something that I can’t sharpen on my T-7?

On the T-7, you can remove the honing wheel without affecting the function of the machine (not true on the T-3). Take the honing wheel off and see if you gain enough clearance.

I already tried removing the hone wheel, and still didn’t have enough clearance.
