Truing with the BMG-100
« on: August 15, 2009, 12:46:03 pm »
Hi Jeff
Could I use the standard Tormek truing tool using the BMG-100 jig set-up for a 1500rpm (50Hz) bench grinder?
Or would that be a waste of a good truing tool?
If it can be used, should I only use it when the grinder is running down (ie after being switched off)?
Many thanks,
Regards
Peter

Peter,  the speed of a dry grinder makes the precision of the TT-50 unnecessary.  On the Tormek, a normal stick type diamond dresser would simply follow the contours of the wheel, but on a dry grinder your hand can't move fast enough for the tool to go into the low spots. A normal cluster tip diamond dresser similar to Packard Woodworks "Diamond Jim" is your best option.

Thanks Jeff

I suspected that may be the case.
