Tormek will ensure that Team Manager Fredrik Andersson and his team have sharp equipment to work with in the kitchen.
- Having sharp knives is incredibly important for us to be able to perform. Therefore, Tormek’s sharpening machine is an important part of our equipment, as we can sharpen an edge quickly and easily. This creates the conditions for being able to succeed in our goals, states Team Manager Fredrik Andersson.
Tormek’s new sharpening studio in Lindesberg was officially opened on Sunday April 2nd and visited by two world-class craftsmen, woodturner Terry Martin and woodcarver Zina Manesa-Burloi, who have worked together for over 20 years. During the inauguration, the duo worked on creations in their specialist fields and shared which tools, woods and techniques they use in the process.
The new premises are spacious and give Tormek the opportunity to organise courses and demonstrations.

A whole lot of flying shavings from this workshop! Join us as we visit Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies in Stockholm together with Nick Agar, Tormek friend and professional woodturner from Devon, UK.
We did a lot of sharpening – the films will be available shortly on the Sharpening woodturning tools page – but first, here are some highlights from the woodturning workshop for students and staff where Nick shared tips on technique and positions. Thank you to all who participated, it was really inspiring to meet you all!
The Tormek T-8 sharpener maximises the precision thanks to the revolutionary fully cast housing which guarantees minimal play for the Universal Support.
The new Square Edge Jig SE-77 is a further development of the SE-76 jig. The new design has two special screws that allow a fine adjustment to get a perfect 90° corner or set the jig for a slightly convex shape.
We are now introducing the SVD-186, a further development of the popular gouge jig SVD-185. The most significant change from a user perspective is the easy and precise click setting and the improved locking disc, which greatly ease the setting. The new version also handles wider tools.
This year, we are happy to congratulate Anton Brunberg who is the Tormek Scholar for 2015. As always, the applicants’ work was to a very high standard, but we all fell for Anton’s elegant and playful desk “City Safari”.
